Pipers Brook New Winemaking Team
As the promising 2016 vintage gets underway in Tassie, a changing of the guard is afoot at Pipers Brook Vineyard with Chief Winemaker René Bezemer stepping down from his role for personal health reasons.
"René's contribution to the success of Pipers Brook Vineyard over the past three decades cannot be over-stated, " Kreglinger Wine Estates CEO John Hosken noted. "2016 would have been his 27th vintage with the company... His methodical approach to winemaking brought our company a great many accolades and his departure has left big shoes to fill."
The man with the feet to fill them is assistant winemaker Bryan Widstrand backed up by winemakers Natalie Fryar and Peter Dredge. Most will know Natalie from her involvement establishing Jansz Tasmania as one of the country’s flagship sparkling wine brands.
And Peter (or "DJ Dredge" as some of us have come to know him) whose track record for making some of Australia's best cool climate wines for Bay of Fires and Petaluma is rivalled only by his collection of vinyl.
