At Plantagenet, we went a little overboard two decades ago when we first came across the vineyard Omrah. The S.S.Omrah ocean liner spent 18 years ferrying settlers and soldiers to and from our shores in Albany, Western Australia. One of the passengers from the S.S.Omrah settled in Mount Barker and bought a property which he named after the striking and luxurious S.S.Omrah. The Omrah range was conceived in 1989 with Australia’s First Unoaked Chardonnay. In the early 90’s a Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet Merlot were introduced. This resulted in the grapes being sourced from further afield and definitive styles being created.
Omrah embodies all that is best from the West of Australia; a pioneering spirit built from youthful enthusiasm and a lot of character. Omrah now sails on our label in search of great grapes sourced from Plantagenet’s excellent plantings throughout Western Australia.
Our philosophy with the Omrah range is to produce full flavoured, fruit driven wines with complexity, finesse and balance and most importantly exceptional value for money. The Omrah Range is now sealed under a screw cap to ensure that the quality you get in your glass is the same as we put into the bottle at the winery.
